Inside the Build: October at Kingsgrove Community Hub

It was a joy to be on site recently and to see how close the builders are to making The Hub weatherproof!

Since my last blog…

The build continues to progress quickly; with a little imagination many features are now visible.

The middle section is our front door. The spiral staircase is looking good!

These windows will hold the architectural glass, designed by Kerry Lemon, Resident Artist, in collaboration with residents.

Kerry’s artwork will set the themes and colours flowing throughout the interior.

The Hub Manager’s office will be on the left, set back from the staircase. Imagine standing at the top of the spiral staircase and looking out. I think it will be equally good standing outside and looking in!

First acoustic panelling being fitted to the ceiling on the first floor.

Double acoustic panels being fitted in the Enterprise zone. These panels will be fitted throughout the building, respecting workers’ and communities’ need for quiet.

Looking down from the mezzanine, from what will be the AVA room onto the stage in the main hall. Can you imagine it?

What next?

Soon site activity will be behind closed doors as the final doors and windows are fitted and the waterproof membrane is completed. The building will become weather tight. Once the outside cladding is in place it will seem like nothing is happening – far from it! Inside will be a hive of activity with wiring, plumbing, wall partitions going up as the rooms begin to take shape, and all the fixtures and fittings being put into place.

We will continue to take photos and videos and post them here and on our social media so you can track progress.

I am looking forward to making announcements soon about our café and the enterprise zone. We are also recruiting our Hub Manager and should be able to introduce them in the New Year. Talking of which…

Job Vacancy – is this for you?

We are now advertising for a new Hub Manager.

You may have spotted our advert for our Hub Manager. We are inviting applicants for this new exciting post.

The Hub Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of The Hub and for setting the atmosphere within the building. Is this something you could do? Or do you know someone who would be perfect in this role? Please do share the social media post and let anyone know who you think might be interested. The closing date is 6th November.
